The Ministry of Health will implement more than 20 health projects to deal with the changing lifestyle and nutritional habits, said the ministry spokesman Dr. Khaled Al-Merghalani. The projects also target diseases that resurfaced like malaria and tuberculosis and the spread of certain chronic diseases like diabetes, hypertension and psychological disorders. The projects include several specializations like maternity care, immunizations, environmental health, child health, comprehensive health care for sick children, the national program for the diagnosis and treatment of asthma, chronic diseases care program, pharmaceutical care program, primary psychiatric care program, social services program, geriatrics and elderly care program, adolescence care program, STDs treatment and surveillance program, anti-infection program, family medicine, school health, joint care, miniature operations program, anti-communicable and infectious disease program, non-infectious diseases combating program and the medical education program. The ministry concluded its preparations for the implementation of the primary health care project, called “Family Doctor for Each Family.” The preparations included the categorization and computerization of health centers and training programs for health care providers in Al-Jouf, Al-Kharj in the Riyadh region and Baljurashy and Al-Baha in Al-Baha region. – Okaz __
