JEDDAH: Italian exhibition of “homes of important personalities and architecture” came to the city on Thursday. It was inaugurated by Simone Petroni, Italian Consul General, and Ambassador Mohamed Ahmed Tayeb, Director General of the Saudi Foreign Ministry in Makkah, on the sidelines of the Italian National Day celebrations at Italian cultural center. “The exhibition has now become a museum and is moving around the world. It came to Jeddah two days ago. It will help in cultural exchange between the two countries. We are perfectly aware that there is still room for improvement and this exhibition will also play an important role in enhancing cultural ties between the two countries. We are working in several directions in order to achieve all the significant targets to further strengthen the relationship between Saudi Arabia and Italian business community in Jeddah,” said Petroni. Tayeb also appreciated the efforts of the Italian consulate and said Italy has a long history of civilization, culture and architecture. The exhibition is a good source of Italian history, as it showcases historical buildings, homes and beautiful architecture of that country, he said. It will help in understating of the history of Italian architecture, culture and civilization, he said. “It will also help in the strengthening of cultural relationship between the people of Italy and the people of Saudi Arabia,” Tayeb added.
