Tennis player banned for life

LONDON: Austrian player Daniel Koellerer has been banned for life by a tennis anti-corruption unit for attempting to fix matches. Koellerer, who was ranked No. 55 in 2009, was found guilty of three violations of the Uniform Tennis Anti-Corruption Program between October 2009 and July 2010. He was also fined $100,000 following an investigation by the Tennis Integrity Unit, whose findings were considered at an independent anti-corruption hearing in London on April 27-28. The TIU was established to protect the sport from corruption and betting scandals.
