Sharief, the woman released Monday after nine days of prison detention for driving in Al-Khobar, has said his daughter may have suffered “psychological shock” and wants her to be medically examined. “I think she might have suffered psychological shock during her imprisonment,” Masoud Al-Sharief told Okaz/Saudi Gazette. “I am prepared to pay for all the medical expenses involved at any advanced medical center in the Eastern Province.” He said, however, that his daughter had called him Monday saying she was in good health. “She called me after she had returned home with her son and she said her health was fine and told me not worry, she was okay.” Masoud said that he would speak to the police Saturday and assume the guardian's responsibilities in his daughter's case, having previously assigned his son to act as the guarantor of Manal's bail conditions in his absence. “We thank Allah that we are in a country governed by justice and one that is concerned for the affairs of its people and their interests above all else,” he said.
