JEDDAH: A joint collaboration between Sawani, Jeddah Youth Business Committee (JYB) and Design Magazine culminated in the organization of the first STITCH event recently at Sawani Red Sea Mall - a concerted effort in bringing Saudi fashion and products to the forefront of creative pursuits. The event will be repeated every two months, each time featuring new 10 designers. STITCH was the first event of its kind that is aimed at introducing consumers to the creativity of Saudi designers. The event was intended to support young emerging designers Mashael Al Faris, Lama Taher, Salma Radwan, Lina Malaika, Khalid Zahid, Samah Khashoggi and Rawan Baaqeel to display their collections ranging from jewelry, prat-ê-porter, abayas, T-shirts to portraits and furniture at the Red Sea Mall until the end of July. Appreciation was given to Jeddah Young Business Committee President Ayman Jamal for his efforts to encourage entrepreneurs which months later resulted in the inspirational gathering at Sawani. Mohammed Hafiz, Sawani owner, offered the space in their department store in Red Sea Mall for two months to the designers for them to be given a chance to shine in the elite department store and the opportunity to sign with them for a year. Also joining the team is Mrs. Kholoud Attar, founder of Design Magazine, who managed to network and collect the featured designers and organized the event that showcased the creative designer's work under a spring theme, which greatly impressed the audience.
