Under the patronage of Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Emir of Makkah Province, the anti-smoke charitable association here, kicked off its third national campaign titled “Nation's hope in youth.” Many awareness events will be held in July as part of the campaign. “Our procedure involves enlightenment, prevention and finally treatment of tobacco addicts,” Abdullah Bin Hasan Al-Sarouji, executive manager of the association, said. He said the association has chalked out programs targeting elementary school students. They include creating an awareness of smoking hazards among students using video programs, plays and distribution of informative booklets. Voluntary groups will also visit schools, colleges, summer centers, government sectors, and military areas in this respect. “The need for ambulant clinics, such as ours, is felt by youth who are enlightened by our voluntary groups and come to us seeking help in kicking the habit,” said Al-Sarouji. The clinics have benefited over 5,000 people quit smoking, he said. __
