A contract worth SR92 million signed recently aims at initiating underground construction work at King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center in Jeddah (KFSH&RC). The contract also merges KFSH&RC branches in Jeddah and Riyadh. Addressing a press conference here on Tuesday, Dr. Fahd Al-Abdul-Jabbar, the chief executive of KFSH&RC's Council, and Najeeb Yamani, Director of Public Relations at KFSH&RC, said the contract would change the face of hospitals in Jeddah. The contract dubbed “Total Solution” technically unites the hospital's Jeddah and Riyadh branches. “It will build interaction between the two organizations and will positively reflect in services provided at the hospital,” Al-Jabbar said. He said a contract with an international electronic company is also in the cards. “This contract aims to import medical equipment costing around SR4.6 million. Contracts with other companies including Al-Saif, Al-Faisaliyah, Taybah, and Attyah would be worth SR9.1 million,” Ahmad Halawani, media representative at KFSH&RC said. Al-Jabbar said plans to build specialized centers for cancer, cardiology, pediatrics and others at the hospital are under way. Officials at the KFSH&RC Jeddah said an increase in hospital centers and medical equipment would require additional staff. “Qualified and trained employees will soon be employed to offer specialized care,” Al-Jabbar said. __
