RIYADH: King Saud University (KSU) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Al Rabie Saudi Foods Co. Ltd that will provide training and career development opportunities to university students. Prof. Dr. Abdullah Bin Abdurrahman Al-Othman, KSU Rector and Representative, and Monther Bin Trad Al Harthi, CEO of Al Rabie Saudi Foods Co. Ltd., signed the agreement. "The private sector plays a pivotal role in sustaining the economic upturn. If the private sector is ignored, it is difficult to develop a well-organized economic growth plan. A genuine partnership based on healthy economic fundamentals between the private sector and government agencies must therefore be developed as part of efforts to establish a strong, diversified and dynamic economy. Sealing this agreement is a step forward in the long-term cooperation between both sectors," Al Harthi said. "We are keen to enhance our cooperation with major universities in Saudi Arabia in order to contribute to the development of the academic sector and to provide opportunities for students to learn more about the agricultural and manufacturing processes. Through this partnership, we are proud to showcase the excellent work environment that we have developed, in line with strong reputation and rich history of excellence of both Al Rabie Co. and King Saud University." Under the MOU, the KSU Faculty of Food and Agriculture Sciences in Riyadh and Al Rabie Co. shall provide training and development opportunities to students through the Cooperative Education Program. Moreover, through this partnership Al-Rabie and KSU aim to help further strengthen the private and public sector workforce.
