RIYADH: Ministry of Water and Electricity will organize a three-day Electricity Efficiency Forum (EEF) starting May 29, Dr. Saleh H. Al-Awaji, Deputy Minister for Electricity, told a press conference here, Monday. Mohammed Al-Hussaini, Deputy General Manager, Riyadh Exhibitions Company (REC), joint organizer of the event and Ali Bin Salah Al-Barak, Chairman, Planning, Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) were also present. Dr. Al-Awaji said the basic of the forum is to create public awareness about the importance of energy conservation and help people at all levels on how to be energy-efficient. The idea to organize the first-ever EEF in Riyadh and Saudi Electricity, Air-Conditioning and Lighting exhibition on its sidelines is from the government directive, which is aimed at increasing awareness about the significance of electricity conservation at all levels from individual user to residential, commercial and industrial, he said. “There was an increase of 10 percent in electricity consumption in 2010,” he said without giving details of electricity consumed. He said some of the leading energy experts from across the world will participate in the EEF that will open for public at Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center. The event is jointly organized by Ministry of Water and Electricity and Riyadh Exhibition Company, he said.
