RIYADH: The Kingdom, represented by the Shoura Council, is scheduled to participate in the second consultative meeting of the G20 parliamentary speakers in Seoul, South Korea, starting Thursday. Dr. Abdullah Bin Muhammad Bin Ibrahim Aal Al-Sheikh, Speaker of the Shoura Council, will lead the Kingdom's delegation. At the six-session gathering, participants will discuss the developmental experiences of advanced countries, international cooperation for the sake of mutual development, food security post the global financial crisis and the role of parliaments in fighting terrorism and achieving peace. Aal Al-Sheikh said in a press statement that his speech will focus on the Kingdom's success, under the leadership of King Abdullah, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, in overcoming the global financial crisis by virtue of its balanced economic policies; and its joint efforts with other countries to tackle international economic problems. Aal Al-Sheikh said the Kingdom's membership of the G20 reflects its status as an important country helping to formulate international economic policies; besides being an important and influential resource on the oil markets. Added to this is its key role in ensuring regional and global peace and security. He urged the world's countries to learn from the Kingdom's experience and legislation based on the Holy Qur'an and the Sunnah of the Prophet (peace be upon him), which has enabled it to overcome the global economic crisis. He said the Shoura Council is operating on the basis of laws and systems which suit the Kingdom's reality and future aspirations. He said the Shoura Council will present a paper on international cooperation for the sake of international economic growth. He also extended his thanks to Park Hee-tae, the Speaker of the Korean National Assembly, for his efforts to make the meeting a success. The Shoura delegation includes Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Saqeer, Director of Public Relations at the Council and a number of other council officials.
