JEDDAH: Jeddah Police arrested three Ethiopian nationals here for robbing bank clients and accountants by physically assaulting them and snatching their briefcases. One accountant was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The police said a Yemeni accountant had his briefcase stolen after he was beaten by three Ethiopians while he was leaving a bank in Al-Thaghar District. The incident took place in public. A member of the public pursued one of the attackers, captured him and handed him over to a police patrol which took him to Al-Kandara Police Station. By then the whole area was being searched and the other two suspects were arrested walking around in different clothes. The suspects, aged between 26 and 29, were carrying an amount of SR168,000, said Brig. Misfer Al-Juaid, spokesman for Jeddah Police. The three gang members are being interrogated. Al-Juaid said the Ministry of Interior stipulates that an accountant must be accompanied by a security guard when traveling to and from banks. Those carrying large amounts of money must be careful and must seek the help of the police to avoid being robbed.
