AHSA: A 17-year-old of Arab nationality was arrested in the Eastern Province after he was observed attempting to enter the Kingdom illegally on foot at Silwa, the Border Guard said Friday. Border Guard spokesman Muhammad Al-Ghamdi said that a Gulf-registered fishing vessel was also seized over the weekend with its crew of five after they entered Saudi waters, while four Saudi fishing boats were intercepted attempting to fish using illegal nets. “The duties of the Border Guard are not confined to coastal security tasks,” Al-Ghamdi said. “We also keep check on all offenses occurring at sea related to the environment and safety,” he added. Border Guard rescuers from Half Moon Beach also came to the aid at the weekend of three persons whose boat suffered an engine failure and began to drift out to sea, and a young man who found himself in difficulties while out on a jet-ski was given first aid treatment and taken to a nearby medical center.
