BURAIDAH: The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice (the Hai'a) in Enaiza detained Wednesday a man of Arab nationality for allegedly blackmailing a woman over a period of four years by threatening to post photographs of her on the Internet. The victim contacted the Hai'a who detained the individual and seized from him the offending images before handing him over to the police. “The most recent demand he made for money was for 60,000 riyals, which he said should be transferred to his account abroad when he was back in his home country,” a regional spokesman for the Hai'a said. “He said that then he would not return to the Kingdom and that the story would be over.” When the woman failed to pay the sum demanded, however, the perpetrator returned to Enaiza to continue making demands for smaller amounts. “The Hai'a hatched a plan and arrested him,” the spokesman said.
