RIYADH: Leaders of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries are scheduled to hold their 13th Consultation Summit here Tuesday to review recent developments in Tunisia, Egypt, Libya, Yemen and Syria, affecting the regional security and stability, Abdul Lateef Al-Zayani, GCC Secretary General, said Monday. Among the issues expected to be discussed in the summit is the Iranian intervention in the internal affairs of GCC states, sources said. Officials have described this meddling and rash statements of some Iranian officials as a flagrant violation of international charters and principles of good neighborliness. The leaders are also expected to reiterate their stand regarding the Iranian occupation of three United Arab Emirates islands and their support for UAE's sovereignty. The leaders may also urge Iran to respond to international efforts to resolve the issue through direct negotiations or through the International Court of Justice. On the Yemen crisis, observers here maintain that the GCC initiative was the best and most successful solution to end bloodshed in that country.
