DAMMAM: Saudi Arabia's authorities provided crucial information that led to a 25 kilogram cocaine bust in another country recently. The drug shipment was on its way to the Kingdom. Abdullah Abdulrahman Al-Jameel, Director of the Anti-Narcotics Directorate in the Eastern Province, said the shipment was seized before it could reach the Kingdom. He said the Kingdom also helped in an international operation to seize three tons of hashish a few years ago. The Anti-Narcotics Directorate is implementing a program to prevent drugs from entering the Kingdom. It has plans to capture smugglers, dealers and users. There are also initiatives under way to conduct studies to develop field and administrative work and to organize and analyze data and statistics in coordination with relevant government bodies. Measures are also in place to train staff in the Kingdom and abroad, and improve cooperation with various international agencies. He cited the Prince Muhammad Bin Fahd Bin Abdul Aziz Program for Societal Prevention in the Eastern Province as a preventive measure against drugs. The program's vision is to promote and spread religious, national, moral and legal values and enhance partnerships against narcotics, he said. The program's message is to have a drug-free environment by curbing using and dealing. The program also includes research, media programs, cultural and sports activities and training, he said.
