DAMMAM: The Civil Status Agency (CSA) at the Ministry of Interior has blamed delays in rectifying the status of some Saudi children abroad on incomplete applications and missing documents. Muhammad Al-Jassir, spokesman for the CSA, said it processes any transactions concerning children of Saudi families living abroad without delay, as long as all the required documents for issuing a Saudi identification card are complete. “The agency can't issue a Saudi ID if the birth certificate is not attached with the application,” Al-Jassir said. “The agency has rectified the status of many Saudis living abroad in the last few months and others are expected to follow soon.” Al-Jassir said the agency fully cooperates with Awasir – The Society for the Welfare of Saudi Families Abroad – and that it had helped resolve several cases of Saudis living abroad brought to its attention by the society. Awasir provides financial assistance to the families abroad with children born to Saudi fathers and helps them to obtain Saudi citizenship and reunite them with the father.
