JEDDAH – Twitter's Hashtag Tadawul has become a popular site to have access to instant information and latest updating of Saudi stock market index. Shareholders get valuable information from the discussions and deliberations being held between capital market experts and Twitter's volunteers called Taghreedat.
Ali Al-Sulami, a tweeter, told the Saudi Gazette that a new use of the expression in the form of a hashtag on Twitter for knowing Saudi stock market index (Tadawul) is an important reference for all types of Tadawul consumers and dealers, including himself. "Those Taghreedat who have expertise in the Tadawul transactions are well known among a major segment of stock market consumers. They are engaged in working in a competitive mood to pass information about the details of companies and firms listed in the market," he said, adding that a tweeter can take advantage of the valuable comments from the market experts and get clarifications for any doubts. Al-Sulami also noted that Taghreedat, the Twitter volunteers, are working around the clock and will be more active during business hours in the capital market.
Wala Al-Najjar, from the Tadawul market, highlighted the significance of key information supplied by Twitter's Hashtag Tadawul. "The popular social networking site is striving to collect latest and accurate information from banks and from pay sites and then instantly pass on to tweeters. The information, which is free of charge, is highly credible and is supported by advice from experts," she said.
Muhammad Al-Nafie, chairman of Securities Committee at Jeddah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI), said that Twitter has both positive and negative impacts. "With an increase in awareness among investors and those associated with the stock market, Twitter has become a major point for sharing and passing information with regard to the developments in the stock market. There is a large group of volunteers who have deep knowledge and experience in the capital market engaged in giving a correct picture about the market to take advantage of it through having instant information about the trends in the market," he added.
