The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has called on an active movement at the international political arena in order to convene a meeting of High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, to take steps to ensure the application of the Convention in the occupied Palestinian territory, including Al-Quds. This came in the Kingdom's speech delivered by its Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Abdulwahab Sheikh before the Special Session of the Human Rights Council held in Geneva today on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. In the speech, he stressed that the Kingdom condemns and deplores in the strongest terms the barbarian military campaign carried out by the Israeli occupation army as well as its crimes that have not taken place in the contemporary history, against the fundamental rights of Palestinian women, children and the elderly and against the Palestinians' right life freely without occupation, siege or a waste of blood. Ambassador Sheikh also pointed out that the Saudi delegation at the Council stands with all strength to the side of the Palestinian national reconciliation and welcomes the Egyptian initiative, which was supported by the Arab League aiming to secure a comprehensive ceasefire.
