What about the mosque's role in our general life?
Al-Riyadh Editorial

Friday Sermon is one of Muslims' rituals which has transformed to tool of incitement and hostility in the present era of political and sectarian hassles, especially in regard to what is being witnessed from Iran where its higher religious preachers have become the ones who embody the sectarian thought according to which they classify the nations. At the same time, there are some Sunni mosques which traced such tradition and transformed the mosque from being a place for worshipping and education towards being a political platform.
In the Kingdom & in consideration to the existence of the two holy mosques in it; our preachers have been dealing with such rituals through moral commitment due to that the sacredness of the place does not withstand such polemics. Our clergymen kept applying and following the same moral responsibility even in Ramdan and Pilgrimage seasons. We are congenital Muslims but the fact of that some preachers exceed the religious duties limits, fuel the hostilities and create disorder which leads to breaching the national unity has reached a level that led to stopping some preachers from work. Such action is a legitimate and legal right due to that the mosque has been established for purposes that should be built on correct preaching rather than destroying the bases of the community.
The negative aspect which many of our mosques preachers have is the traditional spirit. Some of them are exposing their eloquence through assonance or through adding some lines of verse to a subject which does not exceed what we all know of obeying the Lord and parents, threatening of the torture of earthly world and eternity & enticing people to desire the heaven. We have been used to such styles from the preachers who belong to the era which is prior to the cultural and scientific renaissance as such efforts from their side might have sought avoiding any interpretation of the preach, in spite of that this is neither logical nor objective.
Our society is not static; It is a moving one with generations that have become familiar with their age concerns, diversity and special concerns. Thus, perception has become a widened one which should be addressed through the circle of people's present and urgent issues which soul not, necessarily, be through entering into the dark corridors of politics or religious tough arguments... etc. It is the reality we are living that should be addressed such as the rights of the child and woman, the administrative and financial corruption, the negative performance of the employee in the government sector, unemployment, housing issues, spinsterhood and divorce cases, greed of merchants and traders and so on towards the end of our daily critical social problems.
Many of authors and intellectuals discussed the problem of Friday sermons and the educational and cultural role of the mosque during the present time and through the Islamic history. We are not calling for drawing guiding lines for each preacher through fixed templates provided by the General Directorate but are calling for qualifying and educating such preachers for enabling them to create initiatives through which they can find solutions for our various concerns rather than that some of them are changed to be prompting, training and brain washing centers which pushing people towards scared fight under the justification of going to heaven and marrying the nymphs. We had faced such attempts earlier as it had spread widely then and changed our youth to terrorists for Taliban & Al-Qaeda. The condition has reached a stage during which the mosque had become the base for the growth of such phenomena. However, the state realized such ends and restricted the methods leading to them together with being careful while choosing the people who shall be in charge of performing the role of the mosque together with taking care of its spiritual and educational value.
