Presided over by Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al Al-Sheikh, Majlis Al-Shura approved to establish a national center for information security to protect technological infrastructure and websites from penetration. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Dr. Fahad bin Mutaad Al-Hamad, Assistant Speaker of Majlis Al-Shura, said the meeting discussed the annual report of Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for the fiscal year 1432/1433H. The council passed a recommendation submitted by Transport and Communications and Information Technology Committee to establish the national center in coordination between Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the relevant authorities. The council listened to points of views of members on the annual report of the Saudi Standards, Meteorology and Quality for the fiscal year 1432/1433H. Majlis Al-Shura then discussed a report submitted by the Foreign Affairs Committee on the draft statute for the GCC Center for Emergency Management. The council approved the statute considering it an important step in coordination and integration among GCC member states. The council discussed a report presented by the Housing, Water and Public Services Committee on the draft rules to provide backup sources of electric power. Then, members of Majlis Al-Shura discussed a report of the Health and Environmental Affairs Committee on the draft mental health care law and the re-examination pursuant to Article No. (17) of the Shura Council. The council discussed a report of the Housing, Water and Public Services Committee on the annual report of the Ministry of Hajj for the fiscal year 1432/1433H. The relevant committees were given more time to re-submit their reports at future sessions.
