The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Salam Palace here today. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the meeting, Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohiddin Khoja, Minister of Culture and Information, pointed out that the Cabinet reviewed a number of reports on regional, Arab and international developments, including a report on the situation in occupied Palestinian territories and the continuing acts of killings, violence and carnages in Syria. The Cabinet noted Israel's orchestrated practices aiming to change the geographic and population realities of Al-Qudus (Jerusalem), its ongoing violations of international law, non-abiding by its pledges to stop settlements and blockade imposed on Palestinian people throughout occupied territories, its manifest of insistence, recalcitrance, and rejection to abide by the international community's will and circumvent international legitimacy resolutions, stressing the importance of uniting international efforts to provide the Palestinian people with protection and to end all Israeli practices against them, the Minister said. The Cabinet also warned against deteriorating humane situation in Syria on the backdrop of carnage, killings, violence and increasing number of the displaced, demanding the international community to shoulder its responsibilities to put an end to the ongoing savage committed by the regime against Syrian people, he said, adding that the Cabinet commended, in this respect, the great response by Saudi citizens and expatriates to the National Campaign to raise funds to support Syrian brethren, as directed by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and expressed hope that such a campaign would give a hand to meet the basic needs of the Syrian people and mitigate their sufferings due to their tragic situation who are in a dire need to food, medicine, clothes and shelter. The Cabinet was briefed by Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior, on the results of the 19th annual meeting of Regional Governors. The Minister of Interior stressed that the King's directives are followed by regional governors to serve the citizens and meet their needs. The Cabinet discussed a number of issues on its agenda and issued the following decisions: The Cabinet approved the controls of establishing companies owned by the Municipalities. The Cabinet approved the continuation of implementing paragraphs 2 and 1 of the Cabinet's decision No. (7) dated 1/1/1422 regarding the allowance of importing Palestinian goods and products as well as the continuation of the State to bear their customs duties for one year as of 11/09/1433H. The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the exchange of information relevant to money laundering and terror financing between the Saudi Financial Investigation Unit of the Ministry of Interior and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network in the United States of America, which was signed on 12/07/2011. The Cabinet approved a memorandum of understanding on exchanging information and investigations relating to money laundering and terrorist financing between the Saudi Financial Investigation Unit of the Ministry of Interior and the Financial Investigation Unit of the Serious Organised Crime Agency (UK Financial Investigation Unit), which was signed in Yerevan on 12/07/2011. The Cabinet approved, in principle, to allocate a financial support for the implementation of the basic requirements at the circumference of Al-Aqeer Project Site. The financial support amounts to SR 1.4 billion; of which SR 1 billion will be appropriated for the delivery of necessary power in accordance with the preliminary studies and SR 400 million for the provision of water and sanitation. The Ministry of Water and Electricity shall conduct all technical studies for the project to determine the final cost, and shall coordinate with the Ministry of Finance for approval of the project's budget. The Cabinet approved the organization of the Radio and Television Commission as per the attachments of the decision. The Cabinet approved the organization of the Saudi Press Agency as attached to the decision. The Cabinet approved a number of appointments as follows: 1- Abdullah bin Miteb bin Abdullah Al-Rashid is appointed to the post of Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 2- Abdulrahman bin Ibrahim bin Abdulrahman Al-Khalaf is appointed to the post of Minister Plenipotentiary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. 3- Fayz bin Mohammed bin Bade Al-Aama is appointed to the post of Information Advisor (Rank 14) at the General Presidency of Intelligence. 4- Fahd bin Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Musained is appointed to the post of Economic Advisor (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Finance. 5- Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Jarba is appointed to the post of Assistant Deputy of General President (Rank 14) at the General Presidency for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice.
