We remember the age of grasshoppers and live in the age of achievements
Published in Alriyadh on 30 - 07 - 2011

The voices of some media men and writers in the Arab countries rise and prohibit us from practicing our right in showing our views and following what is going on the Arab land of changes and variables and enrolling in the reforming process for some negative practices that take place, which includes oppression of rights and eliminating the human from participating in life with all its contents and branches. Our talk is about the absence of development horizons and the modernity in some Arab spaces, where the human creature in such places changed to a dispersed and disabled consumer rather than being productive, active and interactive with strength in the paths of breaking out to the modern country and practicing his positive role in awareness, education and the creation of the nation futures.
Some people deny us from this right as if we are not a part of the components of this big Arab nation, which needs honesty and treatment for a lot of its diseases, pains and fall downs so that it recovers and enrolls into the world with courage, self qualification and productive minds that create awareness by its product of tools, globalism contents and education tools. Those people that deny us want to mock that we used to live in tents, eat grasshoppers, ride camels and walk barefoot, and we don't deny that at all because it's a pride source for us that we are proud of and remember it in our culture and education curriculums. We also structure it in a lot of our exhibitions that are attended by a lot of intellectual and scientific elites of this vast world.
We also don't deny, feel shamed or fake that we, while witnessing the opening of the first regular school in some of our cities and not villages, that some of the Arab countries were witnessing the graduation of their doctors and engineers from their universities, and living the intellectual awareness product in the literal, intellectual and cultural classes, because that reality and the facts of the present are not something to be mocked about as much as it is a virtue that history reserve for us, as well as the struggles with modernity, creation of development and breaking out of ignorance and backwardness of the human to make his a researched and a scientist in the scientific research centers in Europe and America.
So, excuse us.
The oil was a medium for us, and it was not what made the human in this desert. Rather, its incomes and returns were used to provide development and modernity in this nation. The transition was impressive and comprehensive whether in the infrastructures of huge roads, impressive industrial establishments, qualified hospitals with the latest medical technologies along with medical staff that are Saudi and up to what is included in the finest details of the citizen of social insurance, free education and others.
This is not everything, but what is important is that hundreds of thousands of our youth qualify them selves and formulate their minds in the best universities in the world and enroll in the scholarship programs that aim to provide education and nationalizing modernity in this desert space in which the human once used to eat grasshoppers, believing that the nation wealth is its human mind, and not oil.
Excuse us gentlemen, because we don't cry on the ruins because we are proud of our past and we look forward for the future.
