Specialized criminal court begins hearings against 85 people accused of terrorism

Specialized criminal court began today hearing the case against 85 people accused of pursuing the takfiri course, which is contrary to Quran and Sunnah and the consensus of the nation's predecessors, joining al-Qaeda terrorist organization and working within a cell of led by the deceased Turki Al-Dandani with the aim of possessing explosives and all their requirements, smuggling them into the country and possessing military weapons, grenades, missiles and toxic materials to implement the plans of al Qaeda terrorist organization for killing expatriates, citizens and security men, blowing up government buildings, residential complexes and private property, destabilizing security, intimidating innocent people, corrupting in the earth, fighting against Allah and His Messenger, carrying out armed robbery against citizens and residents and robbing them publicly at gunpoint.
The public case charged the accused with plotting to implement the following crimes:
1 - Armed resistance of the security men and wounding two of them by opening fire on them which prevented them from arresting the master planner of the crimes of the cell and allowed him to escape on 19.12.1423 H. 10 persons of the accused participated in this crime.
2 - Creating a din for the manufacture and processing of explosives in Riyadh's district of Azizia resulting in an explosion which resulted in the death of one of the elements of the cell and seizure of a number of hand grenades, weapons, guns and ammunition.
3 - Firing on security forces and citizens and robbing a car of a citizen by force of arms in Almaseef district of Riyadh.
4 - Resisting the security forces and threatening the security and safety of citizens in the neighborhood of Ashbeilia in Riyadh on 5/3/1424 H. after being spotted and chased and they opened fire on security personnel and looted a number of citizens' cars and took refuge in a din that was subject to security control.
5 - Implementation of a terrorist crime with car bombs at the night of 12/3/1424 H. on three residential compounds in Riyadh in the neighborhoods of Ghirnatah, Ashbailia and Janadriyah resulting in the death and injury of 129 people, including children, women and men. 13 persons of the accused participated in this crime.
6 - Hiding and smuggling ringleader Turki Al-Dandani and four of his associates from the city of Riyadh before the start of the implementation of the crime of attack on the residential complexes to Al-Ahsa and from it to Aljouf where the din in which he hid was raided on 3/5/1424 H. prompting him to commit suicide along with three others who were with him.
The lawsuit pointed out that the arrest of the defendants contributed to aborting the implementation of the schemes of the cell that the defendants initiated their implementation including:
1 - Planning and beginning the blowing up of King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushayt. 6 of the accused participated in this scheme.
2 Planning and beginning the blowing up of Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj. 8 of the accused participated in this scheme.
3 - Planning and beginning the bombing of residential compounds in the eastern region.
4 - Planning and beginning the bombing of Saudi Aramco. 5 of the accused participated in this scheme.
The lawsuit determined the roles of the defendants in the following:
1 - Implementation of terrorist acts.
2 - Collection of information about places and people.
3 - Recruitment by using publications, books and audio-visual media that incite the murder of expatriates and legalizing criminal acts under the pretext of jihad under the supervision of theorists of Al-Qaeda targeting in their recruitment some of the staff to exploit their access to information.
4 - Training recruits in the ranks of the cell in addition to the provision of video media including combat training recorded in locations of fighting in Afghanistan.
5 - Fundraising and the exploitation of Arab and Islamic issues in the induction of emotions of citizens and collecting a lot of money and transferring it to Al-Qaeda activities in addition to the illicit trade in arms.
6 - Facilitating movement of elements of the cell whose names were included in the lists of the wanted for security, forging personal documents, renting apartments for the organization, purchasing vehicles, accommodating the wanted, helping them to move under the cover of secrecy in addition to the use of their personal accounts in remittances and financial operations.
7 - Dissemination of takfiri publications and broadcasting wills and speeches of terrorists documented prior to their carrying out of terrorist operations as well as showing and the glorifying of bombings by Al Qaeda and trying to add sound and visual effects to them to gain moral and media support during recruitment or in preparation of other operations in addition to contacts with the rogue Saad Al-Faqih through sound and video recordings.
The public lawsuit included mention of the items seized in the possession of the defendants including missiles, bombs, high explosives, personal arms, publications, voice and video media calling for the embrace of the deviant thought and inciting against leaders, scholars and security men in addition to recordings, photographs and video of the terrorist operations carried out by the cell.
The public lawsuit also contained many evidence including legally certified confessions, testimony by the accused and the witnesses, statements and records of arrest, inspection, technical, chemical and medical evidence, weapons and seized documents.
