Crown Prince Sultan bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Deputy Premier, Minister of Defense and Aviation and Inspector General, chaired the Cabinet session held at Al-Yamamah Palace here today. In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA) following the session, the Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja said the Crown Prince briefed the Cabinet on the telephone call the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud made to King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan during which they discussed the bilateral relations and the mutual cooperation between the two countries and reviewed the latest developments in the region. The Crown Prince also briefed the Cabinet on the consultations and contacts that took place during the week with a number of leaders of brotherly and friendly countries which dealt with the latest developments at Arab, Regional and International arenas. Dr. Khoja said the Cabinet listened to a report on the latest developments in a number of Arab and Islamic countries, emphasizing the statement issued by the Extraordinary Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Member States which was held in Riyadh yesterday. The statement condemned the continued Iranian blatant interferences in the internal affairs of the GCC members states through conspiring against their national security and spreading division and sectarian strife among their citizens, acts that represent a violation of their sovereignty, independence, principles of good neighborliness, international norms and laws, and the Charters of both the United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Conference. The Cabinet also expressed satisfaction over the statement issued by the GCC Foreign Ministers regarding Yemen. The statement called on the concerned parties to give priority to the national interest and to quickly return to national dialogue in order to agree on the national goals and the needed reforms that lead to a comprehensive agreement that restores public social peace and achieves the desired reform and stable, secure and decent life for the Yemeni people. The Cabinet expressed appreciation of the government and people of the Kingdom of Bahrain for lauding the stances of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia towards the Kingdom of Bahrain against attempts to destabilize its security and stability, stressing that the return of calm and stability to the Kingdom of Bahrain is attributed to its leadership which used wisdom in dealing with the domestic affairs. The Cabinet also addressed the outcomes of the London Ministerial Conference on Libya, expressing hope for a settlement of the situation in Libya where the ultimate aim is to protect Libyan people and provide humanitarian assistance for the affected people. The Cabinet warned of the repercussions of the crisis on the humanitarian situation of Libyan people. Dr. Khoja pointed out that the Cabinet reviewed the seminars and scientific, cultural and health forums that took place in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia over the past week, including the Second Scientific Conference for Students of Higher Education held under the patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques; Health Charitable Societies Forum held under the patronage of the Crown Prince; and the Fifth Security Exhibition of Public Security held under the patronage of the Second Deputy Premier. Dr. Khoja said that the Cabinet reviewed a number of issues on its agenda and issued the following decisions: The Cabinet approved the inclusion of a representative of the Directorate General of Civil Defence to the membership of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Organization for Standardization. The Cabinet authorized the Foreign Minister -or his deputy- to discuss with the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) the amendments to the agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and UNICEF. The Cabinet approved a memorandum of scientific and educational cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan signed in Tokyo on 06/07/2010. The Cabinet approved an agreement for the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of fiscal evasion with respect to taxes on income as well as the Protocol annexed to the agreement between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the Republic of Singapore signed in Riyadh on 03/05/2010. The Cabinet approved an agreement on scientific and technical cooperation between the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the government of the Republic of India signed in Riyadh on 28/02/2010. The Cabinet approved a number of appointments as follows: 1- Eng. Mohammed bin Saleh bin Hamoud Al-Dhabaan appointed to the post of Deputy Mayor for Reconstruction and Projects (Rank 14) at Riyadh Region Municipality. 2- Eng. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Jarbou appointed to the post of Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for the Planning Sectors (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Economy and Planning. 3- Musaed bin Abdullah bin Abdullah Al-Humaidan appointed to the post of Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry for Follow-up and Information (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Economy and Planning. 4- Abdullah bin Saleh bin Ibrahim Al-Araj appointed to the post of Director General of Information Technology (Rank 14) at the Ministry of Economy and Planning.
