The Spokesman of the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution (BIP) said in a statement today 'Based on Article (126) of the Law of Criminal Procedures, the BIP still continues setting the lists of charges of public prosecutions and pleas before the court concerned with crimes of terrorism.' The Spokesman said that to this date 2215 defendants have been referred to the competent court, adding that 1612 of those have received sentences, while 603 cases are still pending. The Spokesman also said that 'the BIP is currently finalizing the lists of charges of public prosecutions for 934 defendants, and is following-up the completion of investigation in cases involving 1931 suspects, in preparation for completing the necessary procedures for transferring them to the competent criminal court. 5080 convicted and defendants is the total number of those convicted of crimes of terrorism who have received final sentences and those the BIP is still prosecuting before the judicial system or still following-up the investigation of their cases.'
