Published in Alriyadh on 26 - 02 - 2011

The Eastern Province's Chamber of Commerce and Industry will organize here a two-day Forum on 'Small and Medium Enterprises' to Offer Promising Investment Prospects for Youth, starting its works on March 29
It will focus on major constraints faced by the sector of small and medium enterprises to come up with recommendations that could contribute to shed light on the creativity of the youth and encourage them to opt for entrepreneurship with the execution of small enterprises. In a statement on the eve of the launching of the Forum, The Chamber's Acting Secretary-General Abdul Rahman bin Abdullah Al-Wabil said that the forum, to be entitled 'Small and Medium Enterprises .. the Pillar of Economic Diversification,' seeks to identify the best economic sectors that can be investment-friendly for small and medium enterprises and that could receive the needed support.
For his part, a member of the Chamber's Board of Directors and Chairman of the Forum's Scientific Committee Khalid bin Mohamed Al-Ammar said that a number of experts in the field of development and establishing small and medium enterprises will participate in the Forum.
'The focus on the Forum's meetings will be mechanisms to raise awareness of the creative manufacturing sector, both small and medium enterprises in Saudi Arabia in general and in the Kingdom's Eastern Province in particular, he said.
'The Forum will also explore steps to monitor and attract investment opportunities, and work to make it available to small and medium enterprises,' he added. He stressed that the Forum will ensure the deployment of creative thought to the owners of small and medium enterprises to configure tools supporting them and making them eligible to compete at the local level and globally.
He also pointed out that the Chamber is keen through the Forum to resolve the obstacle of financing that is one of some other obstacles a youth faces while starting a small project or expanding and developing it further.
