Egypt is more powerful than Iran
Yara
Published in Alriyadh on 16 - 02 - 2011

During and after the big events in Egypt, we heard some express their fears about Iranian penetration in Egypt. Most of those built their fears upon the (so said) strength of Brothers Muslims in Egypt. Obviously they know nothing about the history of both countries and never estimate their local and international rank. They spoke about Egypt as if it is Somalia or even Lebanon. The question which to be asked after the revolution is: to what extent Egypt will penetrate into Iran not vice versa?
Reading Through the histories of both countries in the era of great leaders: Jamal Abdul Naser in Egypt and Mohamed Reda Bahlawi in Iran, we can figure out the strength and potentials of both countries. Iran could not, in this era, express its power except through its relationship with Israel and against the Arabs. For the sake of becoming the competitor of Egypt, it turned to be a castaway.
We can't analyze Mubarak fall through economy and food issues. In the last 30 years, Egypt abandoned its leading role in all fields. Egypt shrank in the maze of leader-follower roles. So Iran penetrated through Arab problems those days. Numbering the most revealing issues in the area may reveal the reasons of Iranian wide spread. Without KSA regional role, the Arab nations might lose a lot of their basic potentials. Sudan is the strategic depth of Egypt. This big Arab country over the Nile faced the most serious crisis in history. All monster-like forces were fighting and this quaked it to end with two countries after judging tits ruler in the absence of Egypt role. Egypt interference must not be because of national relations with Sudan, but also because of the historic relations and the necessary life element "the Nile". All what happened in Sudan represents nothing to Egypt as if it's happening in Cambodia or Vietnam.
Many years ago, Lebanon was and still a hot zone: involving Iran interference which considered a serious issue for all Arabs. Let's enlist the parties in Lebanon conflicts: KSA, Syria, Iran, Israel, USA, France and finally Turkey; there is no Egypt here. Look for Egypt in the Palestinian issue. It went down starting form Ghaza, Hamas till the Israeli captive Jul'ad Shalet.
Remember the role of Egypt in Iraq War since the Kuwait Liberation and look for Egypt in Yemen and Somalia; not on the political hand but on all other hands. Egypt was controlling media in all Arab countries but now it lagged behind. It was controlling the literature events in all Arab countries but now it's going backwards. It was controlling TV drama but now it's a mere competitor. Egypt used to export books, professors, doctors and journalists. It was number 1 in all and everything in the area.
We can't reduce all that to food, facebook youth or corruption. What created this revolution is the Egyptian spirit which suffered suppression for 30 years. Egypt is a great national leader which possesses an innate leading role. The question is: what's the fate of Iranian power after this revolution?
