Arabic "WikiLeaks"!
Published in Alriyadh on 27 - 01 - 2011

After the publication of the documents, the Palestinian Government has become
in trouble; was such information true, the bitter concessions given to the Israeli
side are truly harmful and terrific, as in spite of all those generous offerings,
they could not but keep insisting on settlement, expanding and transforming the
west bank into a big prison, in addition to refuse all initiatives. The question
here is what is the reaction of the Palestinian people in the west bank who stand
behind the Government after the revelation of these truths?
The overview provides Hamas with a moral push and public support being the
crosslink with Israel, and the party most harmed by its attacks and blockades.
Therefore, the public support will be more on its side than on the Government's,
which forms a painful strike not for the semi-dead peace negotiations, but for
the occurrence of a political deliberation that does not meet with the goal of the
citizen who has been waiting for situations where he would expect himself to be
the core of interest.
Israel, as well as its reactions, is cold. However, they realize that the
Palestinians gave all they have, and that they are a refusing and stubborn party
in the peace process. This reveals a reality that might be realized by parties
concerned about the case such as America and some European countries.
However, they will show up before the public opinion in a contradictory way.
The biggest loss is that the motive to stand in Hamas' side will cancel so many
things; for Israel, it will become a public patriotic choice, and a new uprising
might erupt again for the claims that giving up right, even if initiated by the
Palestinian state, is against the public situation. Thus, Israel would perhaps be
facing a new upheaval that won't be reflected only in the situations, but also in
creating conditions where they thought they were the first winner in humiliating
the Palestinians and taking off the biggest concessions from them, and tame
them so as not to act in any way against its actions.
The new reality in the Arabic arena is to move and confront instead of stay still.
Israel does not wish for fair systems that achieve good values in democracy and
development to dominate, they, however, find the congestive situations as an
objective to tear up this big home. Thus, the Palestinian case will be in the core
of events, which will push the confrontation to become bigger and much wider.
The Qatari network Aljazeera has risked by publishing the documents. Perhaps
it was driven by a media scoop equivalent to that of WikiLeaks. However, the
outcome here might either be negative or positive.
In a way, it might be negative because this publication caused embracement
to the Palestinian Authority, and revealed things that had been considered
classified. The Authority might not dispute with Aljazeera, but with the Qatari
Government. The situation might lead to a complication with dangerous
consequences that might transform into revenge practiced through non-media
techniques.
It might also be positive because the Arab, and specifically the Palestinian,
citizen is not aware of what is going on inside the closed rooms. This thing
brings them new and dangerous information which will support the situation of
the forces advocating cutting up negotiations, and will also be an advantage for
those forces opposing the Authority. Furthermore, this will strengthen rigorism
which will attain an Arab, Islamic and international support as a consequence of
the Government's situation and its submission to Israel.
