The Ministry of Labor and Social Development and the Saudi Council of Engineers have agreed to bar the recruitment of expatriate engineers with less than five years of professional experience. Expatriate engineers will also be required to undergo a proficiency test and appear for a personal interview before the Council to verify his capabilities and specialization. The decision is aimed at providing opportunities for Saudi engineers in the government and private sectors. Experience certificates should relate to the field of engineering and must be authenticated. Those presenting fake documents will be made to face the consequences. The Council had earlier stipulated a three-year work experience, a professional test, and a personal interview before working in the Kingdom.
