For the first time in years, the Saudi Council of Ministers will hold its weekly meeting in Riyadh every Tuesday instead of the customary Monday. Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud has approved the change, following the establishment of the Political and Security Affairs Council and the Economic Affairs and Development Council. The Council Secretary General said the move to convene on Tuesdays instead of Mondays will give more time to the ministries, government departments and agencies, and financial institutions to make the necessary preparations for the weekly Cabinet sessions. The Council of Ministers, chaired by King Salman, a position currently deputized to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, is entrusted with the task of drawing up the internal, external, financial, economic, educational, defense and all other public affairs of the state. The Council is also responsible for approving the state budget and endorsing Shoura Council resolutions. It also monitors the performance of the state's monetary and administrative bodies, and implements decisions, orders, rules and regulations. The Council is tasked with overseeing the general development plan, and supervising the general performance of the state organs.
