The Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, represented by King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid, provided support for the food aid program for non-refugee population groups in the Gaza Strip, through electronic food vouchers in addition to the activities of nutrition enlightenment through the World Food Program (WFP). According to a statement issued by the World Food Program, this comes in implementation of the agreement signed between the Center and the Program in November 2016, indicating that the implementation of the agreement to provide assistance through food vouchers in the Gaza Strip started from 20 March 2017 to 5 July 2017. The World Food Program said that according to the agreement signed between the King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid and the Program, the Kingdom's contribution was used to provide electronic food vouchers benefiting 19,676 individuals in four out of the five governorates in the Gaza Strip: Gaza, northern Gaza, Khan Younis and Rafah. Thanks to the financial support provided by the Kingdom and other donors, food assistance started in 2017 through food vouchers instead of in-kind food baskets. This represents 27% increase in the number of food vouchers in the Gaza Strip.
