A woman beggar, frequently seen in front of a shop in a city in Riyadh region, was found to be the owner of a number of apartments and shops. A director of a charity society said he was driving in front of the shop when he spotted the woman and stopped to ask her to visit the society to see what help it could offer. The official, who asked not to be identified, was shocked on learning that she owned several properties. It may be recalled that several years ago a woman beggar died in Jeddah leaving behind a fortune valued at more than three million Saudi riyals, including properties in prime downtown locations. She had amassed the wealth from begging in the streets of Jeddah for more than 50 years.
