The Al-Haramain Express Train arrived at the Jeddah station on its first trial run, the Saudi Railways Organization (SRO) announced Tuesday. When completed, the Makkah-Madinah train project will connect the two holy cities via Jeddah and the King Abdullah Economic city in Rabegh. The head of the Public Transport Authority said the trial run that originated from Rabegh was a success. He said that the SRO was seeking to play its part in realizing the goals of Vision 2030 by mobilizing its energies to serve pilgrims through this project. The project is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year. The 450-kilometer Al-Haramain electric train project will serve pilgrims, citizens and residents. The two-hour route is designed to serve 60 million passengers annually through 35 highly advanced trains equipped with the best of amenities.
