Opinion: King Salman.. Quest For Excellence
Published in Alriyadh on 08 - 05 - 2017

Recent Cabinet reshuffle announced by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman over the weekend was highly publicized by world media because it was one of the important decisions taken by the King since his coming to power early 2015.
The changes involved important ministers like the veteran oil minister Ali al-Naimi, and Some ministries were also merged.
"The merging of ministries is opening the door to efficiency gains that the government is keen to enforce", said John Sfakianakis, a former adviser to the government and head of economy at the Jeddah and Geneva-based Gulf Research Centre.
According to analysts, the changes may help the Kingdom move ahead with its future plans.
The prestigious Financial Times said the changes were in line with the "Saudi Vision 2030" announced by deputy crown prince Mohammad bin Salman a year ago. The plan aims to reorient the economy towards the private sector and away from dependence on oil revenues.
Away from the far reaching results of these changes, but we are confident that they are for the public good and the welfare of all classes of the society.
We know that this is a difficult mission and even very complicated for anyone who shoulders the responsibility of ruling due to the fast unpredictable changing developments. This task of handling public affairs requires a man of unique caliber in the person of King Salman who is endowed with the wisdom of leadership.
Since his coming to power two years ago, the King has the last say in decisions that satisfy everybody and win unanimity.
It is true that economic and social reforms since announcement of the "Saudi Vision 2023" and the Transformation Program are running smoothly in accordance with a well-planned and coordinated scheme.
However, it is easy to work out plans and design projects, but things are different when it comes to implementation in a vast country and amidst international conditions that are open to all possibilities.
If we look closely at the late decisions, we can discover that the King has combined the aspirations, transformations and the vision all together. On one hand, he has issued them with transparency taking into consideration wishes of his countrymen by injecting new blood in various sensitive government establishments. On the other hand, he has sent a very clear message to fight violations and corruption and that he will hold to task any delinquent or negligent.
With these changes, King Salman has kept his promise to make the Kingdom "a pioneering and successful global model of excellence on all fronts."
