Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council held, at Al-Salam palace here today, its 5th session under the Co-Chairmanship of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and Head of the Saudi side in the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, and Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Prime Minister, Minister of Interior and Head of Qatari side in the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council. At the beginning of the meeting, the Crown Prince welcomed the Qatari Premier and Minister of Interior and his accompanying delegation. He expressed satisfaction with the fruitful and constructive cooperation and coordination between the two countries in all fields, thanks to the support of the leaderships of the two countries. At the conclusion of the meeting which aimed at the development, enhancement and consolidation of the relations between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Qatar and their peoples, a joint statement was issued in which the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council commended the positive results of the historic visit paid by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the State of Qatar on 5/3/1438 H corresponding to 04/12/2016, which ushers in a new stage of the relations between the two countries and reflects their leadership's keenness to promote integration in all fields between them. The Saudi and Qatari sides also exchanged views in the course of in-depth talks, which covered many bilateral and regional issues of common interest, and stressed their follow-up to the various events in some Arab and Islamic countries and called for the wisdom in dealing with these events to ensure the preservation of the safety and stability of these countries as well as the prosperity of their peoples. They also asserted that the fight against terrorism is a shared international responsibility that requires concerted international efforts to confront it at all security, intellectual, financial, media and military levels. The Qatari side welcomed the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier and Minister of Interior's winning of George Tenet Medal, which is being granted by the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) for the distinguished intelligence work in the field of combating terrorism, in recognition of his contribution to achieve world peace and security. The two sides also welcomed the recent release of Qatari and Saudi abductees in Iraq, praising the efforts and endeavors exerted for their release and safe return to their country and their families. The Council expressed its satisfaction for ending this severe crisis. The two sides discussed aspects of bilateral cooperation between the concerned parties in the two countries in various fields. The Council commended the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's hosting of the Expo of "Made in Qatar 2016". The two sides also welcomed the signing of an agreement in the field of air transport services as well as the third executive program in the field of education. The Saudi side presented a number of memorandums of understanding for cooperation between the two countries in a number of fields while the Qatari side promised to study them and present the outcomes to the Joint Preparatory Committee of the Coordination Council at its next session. For his part, Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani, Qatar's Premier, Minister of Interior and Head of the Qatari side at the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, expressed thanks to and appreciation to Crown Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Premier, Minister of Interior and head of the Saudi side at the Saudi-Qatari Coordination Council, for good reception and warm hospitality accorded to the Qatari delegation during their stay in their second country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Qatari senior official also welcomed the visit to be paid by Crown Prince and members of the Saudi side to Doha next year to co-hold the 6th session of the Council.
