The Ideological Warfare Center, which is affiliated with the Saudi Ministry of Defense under the leadership of Minister of Defense, has launched on Sunday 30 April 2017 a global project to counter and confront the roots of the extremism ideology and promotes the true understanding of Islam by posting messages on IWC's social media accounts in English, French and Arabic. The center provides intellectual initiatives to the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition to combat terrorism. In accordance with the IMCTC and the international efforts to combat terrorism, the IWC aims to eradicate the ideological roots of extremism. The IWC is correcting what extremism has done to distort the teachings of Islam, explaining its noble values and elevated guidance. The messages of "IWC" were posted via social media detailing IWC's global goals in several languages and included expose the mistakes, allegations, suspicions and deception techniques promoted by extremism and terrorism, state the right sharia methodology regarding issues of extremism and terrorism. It also introduce intellectual initiatives similar to the ones presented by other bodies inside and outside of Saudi Arabia and for the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition and raise the right level of Islamic awareness in and out of Muslim countries, garner more support of the positive mental picture about real Islam internationally. Inoculate youth against extremist thought through various programs, dismantle the means used by terrorism to recruit its followers and establish the methodology of moderation in Islam and the right concepts regarding issues which terrorism acted to distort with incorrect interpretation and atrocious crimes. The objectives of "IWC" included create in-depth and proven understanding of the issue of extremism through containments of extremist tendencies, determining the demographics and age groups targeted by extremist groups, understanding the tools and methodologies used by extremist groups and effective cooperation with domestic and international institutions and agencies. It also included develop, build and implement effective plans against ideological extremism, including promotion of moderation, tolerance, dialogue and understanding values within the context of the belief in diversity, present the values and principles of the correct version of Islam in a discourse that considers difference between understandings, cultures and civilizations in harmony with its contemporary context. To use the studies and research by creating scientific and intellectual platforms, international forums, research chairs, and exploration and analysis tools, to be popular on media and communication means, and to hold international partnerships. Also, organize conferences, symposia, and discussion panels, particularly in collaboration with outlook and power centers to positively expand, penetrate, and launch public campaigns to the effect of engaging communities in promoting moderate view. The definition of IWC stated that it has a board of trustees chaired by the Saudi Arabian Minister of Defense. It is staffed with experienced experts from Saudi Arabia and abroad in view of the international goals of the IWC with diversified content and discourse to include all the groups under its messages.
