It will familiarize healthcare manufacturers and service providers in the US with opportunities in the Kingdom in various fields in the growing healthcare sector, including sales, medical technologies, joint ventures, and investments. Commenting on the conference, Dr. Al-Rabiah said, "The Saudi Vision 2030 has given us the momentum to move forward with the necessary reforms to raise the level of healthcare in the Kingdom. The key to these reforms lies in public-private partnerships and global best practices. We are in contact with foreign investors in this vital sector. We want to lead this initiative by reaching as many key investors as possible in the United States." For his part, Dr. Al-Qassabi said, "As part of Vision 2030, the Kingdom seeks to shape and encourage partnerships with companies to increase competitiveness and productivity in the healthcare sector. The conference will allow the US side to explore the Saudi healthcare market, which is undergoing a restructuring. The changes will create lucrative and exciting opportunities for both domestic and foreign investors." The Saudi American Business Council was established in December, 1993 to improve mutual knowledge and understanding between the private sectors in the US and the Kingdom, and to promote and facilitate increased trade and investment between the two countries. The partnership has established a membership base of some 350 leading companies in the US and the Kingdom. The Council is a central source of information and assistance to companies wishing to pursue specific business activities in the Kingdom. It conducts conferences and seminars in both countries to promote dialogue between the private sectors, and organizes trade and investment missions that provide communication opportunities for companies on both sides.
