In the presence of Deputy Minister of Health for Planning and Development Dr. Fahd Al-Jalajil, the Third International Health Specialties Conference was inaugurated Wednesday with participation by a number of international and local speakers in the field of medical education. The Deputy Minister of Health inspected the exhibition held at the fringes of the Conference. He was acquainted with the participation of a number of health entities and their role in medical education and training. Addressing the Conference, Secretary General of the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties Prof. Ayman Abdo welcomed guests and voiced thanks to Health Minister Dr. Tawfiq Al-Rabieah for supporting the Conference. He indicated that the Conference would focus on medical education assessment. The Saudi Commission for Health Specialties aims at protecting and enhancing health in Saudi Arabia, Prof. Ayman said and added that the healthcare professionals receiving the best training constitute the Commission's tool in this respect. "Our approach for improving healthcare is via the health professionals, instructors and leaders of medical education and health training in the Kingdom," Prof. Ayman elaborated. The Secretary General termed the Conference a great opportunity for keeping in touch with international specialists, benefiting from their expertise and sharing opinions and ideas for development of medical education. He pointed out that the Scientific Committee of the Conference has prepared a working program which will enrich the c Conference and inure to the benefit of participants in it. Prof. Ayman confirmed that the Commission reserves no effort in upgrading the efficiency of health sector, endeavoring to improve the outputs of training and working with the training deliverers to achieve the Commission's strategic plan commensurate with the Saudi Vision 2030 and the National Transformation Program 2020. The Secretary General voiced thanks to all participants in the Conference. He alluded that such participation will help enrich the health sector and contribute to the submission and discussion of ideas related to training. The said ideas will be of great benefit for all stakeholders, he said. During the ceremony, Deputy Minister of Health honored the sponsors of the Conference and thanked them for their efforts. It is noteworthy that as part of the activities of the first day, renowned media figure and university lecturer Dr. Fahd Al-Sunaidi delivered a lecture on the physicians' social and humanitarian responsibility. In his lecture, he tackled a number of social and media aspects related to physicians and underscored the importance of benefiting from doctors' experience. Furthermore, he urged doctors to be closer to society and reiterated the necessary of the presence of medical practitioners in social media platforms and forums and in all appropriate activities to render their expertise and their knowledge to the society. Dr. Al-Sunaidi noted that Saudi physicians are amongst the best and most proficient physicians worldwide and that the health services in the Kingdom is better the health services provided in most of the countries in the world. The Conference is accompanied by a number of workshops and sessions held by local and international speakers tackling topics pertaining to medical education and training and mechanisms thereof.
