A Saudi Railway Company (SAR) train collided with a camel 40 kms south of Qassim station, in the latest accident involving stray camels. In a tweet, SAR said the train was approaching Qassim station when its driver spotted the camel on the tracks before the train rammed into the animal. No passengers were injured though the train's fiberglass front was damaged (see picture). The accident caused delay in the train's arrival. Camel owners often cut across railway lines to cross on to the other side, leading to such mishaps, particularly on the Dammam-Riyadh rail route. Once again, SAR has emphasized the importance of respecting regulations and refraining from crossing railway tracks. It said it would seek to prosecute those who violate the level crossing fence.
