She unveiled her new bob haircut following her split from Orlando Bloom earlier this week. But Katy Perry has admitted that she got her blonde bob cut in order to help 'redefine what it means to be feminine'. Speaking at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, the 32-year-old revealed that her new 'do had initially been inspired by Miley Cyrus - and that she wants to join her on her quest to proving femininity is on the' inside '. Katy had first documented her drastic haircut on Snapchat this week, telling followers that she was 'turning a new leaf' - in light of her breakup from the actor, 40. However explaining the decision on the red carpet, the Roar crooner admitted she had always wanted to look like the former Hannah Montana star - and just had not had the bravery to get the chop until now. 'I always wanted to look like Miley Cyrus,' she said, before continuing on her desire to inspire with the unconventional 'do:' I want to redefine what it means to be feminine.' 'I feel like there's a new wave, a new authentic vibe coming in and I think this matches. Look at Scarlett Johansson, who's one of the most beautiful women in the world. 'You can be hot and look great with this kind of hair. Why not? ' The songstress then added that she does not have to look a certain way to prove that she likes girly things, or for men to fancy her. She went on: 'I think my feminine is inside of me. If a guy is like, 'Oh, she's got a weird haircut. I do not want to date her ', I'm not even interested in talking to them because you're so one-dimensional about life.' The streamlined look comes just days after it was announced she had split from her boyfriend Orlando Bloom. The couple, through their reps, said in a joint statement that the stars were 'taking respectful, loving space at this time.' An insider later told People magazine that the romance 'was never really supposed to be serious between them,' so its amicable end was, in essence, inevitable. The source said: 'When it first started, she was basically like' This will be fun for now. ' Admitting the romance merely fizzled out, the insider added: 'This really was not a bad breakup for her. Her split from John Mayer was a lot harder for her. This just ran its course. ' Trying to diffuse any potential controversy or swirling rumours regarding the separation however, Katy then took to her Twitter page to confirm that there were no hard feelings with the Pirates of the Caribbean actor. She wrote: 'HOW BOUT A NEW WAY OF THINKING FOR 2017 U can still b friends & love ur former partners! No one's a victim or a villain, get a life y'all! ' Kary and Orlando were together for just over a year - having first been pictured together at The Weinstein Company and Netflix's Golden Globes Party back in January 2016.
