At the conclusion of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud visit to Malaysia, the following joint statement issued today. At the invitation of King of Malaysia Sultan Mohammed V, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud paid a visit to Malaysia from February 26 to March 1, 2017. The King of Malaysia received the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at the Royal Palace and decorated him with First Royal State Medal (Medal of Crown). The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prime Minister of Malaysia Dato Sri Mohamed Najib Abdul Razak held constructive and fruitful talks during which they exchanged views on ways of developing bilateral relations and intensifying cooperation between the two countries in political, economic, cultural, military and security fields, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. The two sides agreed that the exchange of visits between the two countries at all levels would contribute to the development of bilateral relations, and agreed to intensify communication and cooperation between government officials and the private sectors in both countries to deepen and expand bilateral relations. They stressed the importance of strengthening and enhancing trade relations between the two countries and cooperation in the areas of investment and exploring available opportunities in the light of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's vision 2030. Both sides also agreed to strengthen military cooperation, develop training , joint exercises, and exchange military experiences. Riyadh and Kuala Lumpur welcomed the participation of Saudi "Aramco" with Malaysian "Petronas" company to develop and possess an integrated giant complex for refining and petrochemicals in Malaysian Johor state which would contribute significantly to supporting the economic partnership between the two countries over the long term and enhancing cooperation between them in the field of energy. The two countries signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of scientific and educational cooperation, which would pave the way for further cooperation in the areas of exchange of knowledge, experience and technology transfer. King Salman bin Abdulaziz with the King of Malaysia Sultan Mohammed V They also signed a memorandum of understanding in the field of labor and human resources that would intensify training programs and exchange expertise in areas of safety, occupational health, information and statistics related to the labor markets in the two countries. Two more memorandums of understanding were also signed in the field of trade and investment cooperation, and in the field of cooperation between Saudi Press Agency (SPA) and Malaysian National News Agency (Bernama). Both sides discussed a number of issues, there was complete agreement on the need to intensify and unify the efforts of the Islamic world to confront extremism, renounce sectarianism and advance the Islamic world toward a better future in the framework of the objectives and goals of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and seek for achievement of international peace and security. They also discussed one of the most important issues, the phenomenon of terrorism, which has no link to any race, color or religion and they agreed on the need to intensify joint efforts to combat terrorism in all its forms and manifestations, whatever might be its source. The two countries announced the establishment of a global center for peace to be based in Malaysia in the name of "King Salman Center for Global Peace" in collaboration between Intellectual Warfare Center at Ministry of Defense of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Center for Security and Defense at Malaysian Ministry of Defense, Malaysian University of Islamic Sciences, and Muslim World League.; these bodies shall coordinate among them to complete necessary arrangements to implement the launch of the center within 90 days from the date of its announcement. Within the constructive spirit that prevailed in the meetings between the two sides, they reviewed political issues in the Middle East, particularly the Palestinian cause and stressed the importance and need to achieve a lasting, comprehensive and just solution to resolve this issue in accordance with Arab peace initiative and relevant resolutions of the international legitimacy. The two sides also confirmed the importance and need to find a solution to the Syrian crisis on the basis of Geneva statement (1) and United Nations Security Council Resolution (2254) and the importance of providing humanitarian assistance and relief works for Syrian refugees inside and outside Syria. On the other hand, the two sides affirmed the importance of maintaining the unity of Yemen, achieving its security and stability, and the importance of a political solution to the Yemeni crisis based on the Gulf initiative, outputs of Yemeni national dialogue, the United Nations Security Council Resolution (2216), confirming their support for the legitimate authority in Yemen and the efforts being exerted in this regard as well as facilitating access of aid to all regions of Yemen. The two sides expressed their deep concern about Iranian interference in the internal affairs of countries in the region, emphasizing the need for Iran's commitment to the principle of good neighborliness and respect for the sovereignty of States. The Malaysian side expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for the Kingdom's efforts being exerted in the service of the Two Holy Mosques and pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud expressed his best thanks and appreciation to the King of Malaysia Sultan Mohammed V, Prime Minister Dato Sri Mohamed Najib Abdul Razak and the brotherly people of Malaysia for the warm reception and generous hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation.
