Samsung Galaxy S7, Galaxy S7 Edge get android 7.0 Nougat on sprint
Published in Alriyadh on 23 - 02 - 2017

Good news for Sprint subscribers in the U.S. as the Samsung Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 edge are now receiving the long-awaited Android 7.0 Nougat update.
Sprint users who are participating in the beta program for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge are getting a taste of Android Nougat.
Even though the beta users are the only ones receiving the update for now, it may soon be available for all Sprint users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
The news of the firmware over-the-air (FOTA) update's availability was made known by a user on the Android Central forum.
"You will be receiving Nougat for your Sprint devices very soon. Beta members are currently downloading the update as I write this message," noted a user, who also shared a screenshot of the notification alert from the Galaxy Beta Program Team.
The announcement was made on Feb. 21 and the builds for the Galaxy S7 and the Galaxy S7 Edge are G935PSPT4BQAA and G935PVPU4BQAA, respectively.
The Android N update from the carrier comes close on the heels of T-Mobile and AT&T pushing out the same for its variants of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
Verizon Wireless halted the Android Nougat beta testing program for the two smartphones in December 2016 and revealed that the update would not be rolled out before early 2017. Galaxy S7 edge and Galaxy S7 users on the carrier are yet to receive the Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The latest update for Sprint subscribers is just a 167 MB download for users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. If you are a member of the beta program, then to download the update all you have to do is follow some simple steps. Navigate to Settings Software Update Software Manual Download.
However, before downloading the said update, it is essential to ensure that you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection and your device has at least 50 percent battery charge. Make sure you back up important data on your smartphone.
The Android 7.0 Nougat update also brings some exciting featuresGalaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge users' way. The Quick Settings button and the Notification feature have also been enhanced to improve their usability. The updated devices will also benefit from the multi-window mode, minor tweaks to the UI and more.
While most Sprint users will be happy about this new update, it is important to note that both the Samsung devices have been reported to face some problems while running the updated OS.
After the installation of the update in the devices, it has been stated by users that the battery life of the smartphones reduced significantly.
Sprint users who are not members of the Galaxy Beta Program will have to wait for the update to hit their Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge smartphones. However, it is important to note that the update in that case will be much bigger and can be expected to be upwards of 1 GB.
Since the Android 7.0 Nougat update is now available for the beta program members, Sprint will likely push it out soon for other users of the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.
