Saudi Arabia is the 62nd least corrupt nation out of 176 countries, according to the 2016 Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) published by Transparency International. The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks countries based on how corrupt their public sector is. Dr. Khalid Al-Muhaisin, Chairman of the National Authority for Combating Corruption (Nazah), stressed the need for public and private entities to increase anti-corruption efforts and save public money. Al-Muhaisin noted that such efforts would contribute to the fulfillment of Vision 2030 goals. "Vision 2030 calls for zero tolerance of corruption and stresses the need for adopting best global practices to achieve the highest levels of transparency and good governance." He said the Kingdom's latest CPI ranking does not reflect its actual position because the organization bases its report on incomplete data. It relies on information provided by the various governmental departments, which were not updated most of the times. Al-Muhaisin added that Nazah is making efforts to ensure that the government agencies, which are the contact points for Transparency International, maintain updated records of their anti-corruption and transparency efforts. In this connection, the Authority had organized three workshops during the past year on how government departments should interact with the index evaluation mechanism.
