Hull City midfielder Ryan Mason is in a stable condition after fracturing his skull in Sunday's 2-0 loss at Chelsea, the Premier League club has said. Mason, 25, clashed heads with Chelsea's Gary Cahill 13 minutes into the game at Stamford Bridge in London. He received treatment for several minutes before being carried off the field on a stretcher wearing an oxygen mask. He was then taken to St. Mary's Hospital in London, where he underwent surgery, Hull said in a statement. "Ryan is in a stable condition and is expected to remain in hospital for the next few days," the club said. A further update will be issued on Monday. "I tried to get on the end of a cross and we smashed heads," Chelsea's Cahill told broadcaster Sky Sports after the match. "I know he went to hospital and I wish him all the best." The injury led to nine minutes of added time at the end of the first half during which Diego Costa gave Chelsea the lead. Cahill added a goal in the second half as Chelsea moved eight points clear at the top of the table.
