Health insurance will be compulsory for all visitors to the Kingdom beginning next month, according to the Cooperative Health Insurance Council. The Council said it has completed the required electronic processes to establish a link with the Directorate General of Passports and the National Information Center to align efforts in this regard, mainly related to issuance or extension of visit visas. The new insurance rule will be applicable to all visitors entering the Kingdom on visit or transit visas, besides dependants of expatriates, as per a Council of Ministers decision. Umrah performers, pilgrims, visitors sponsored by foreign diplomatic missions, and guests of the state are exempted.
