Five Saudi citizens were killed and ten others injured in the terrorist attack that targeted revelers during New Year's festivities in Istanbul on Saturday night, a Saudi diplomatic source said. Abdullah Al-Rashidan, Plenipotentiary and Charge d'Affaires at the Saudi Consulate General in Istanbul, told Al-Riyadh Arabic paper, sister publication of Riyadh Daily, that a Consulate team had visited the scene of the attack to access the situation. They were following up the arrangements being made to treat the injured and were in constant touch with Turkish authorities to determine the exact number of causalities. The attack was carried out by a gunman who stormed the club and opened fire randomly on the people, killing 39, including 16 foreigners. The police are still looking for the attacker. Meanwhile, the Kingdom reiterated its solidarity with the Turkish people and government as it faces the scourge of terrorism, and expressed support for its actions to maintain its security and stability. An official source at the Saudi Foreign Ministry said the Kingdom strongly condemns and denounces the terrorist attack in Istanbul.
