She's bagged a number of awards and accolades in 2016 thanks to her epic live tour and chart-topping album. And with the year drawing to an end it was only fitting that Adele finish 2016 on a high-note, as she was named Top Artist of the Year for a third time by Billboard. The 28-year-old was awarded the Top Artist title for a third time, thanks to sales and streams of her hugely popular album, 25, which dominated the charts for much of the year. Despite releasing her third studio effort in November 2015, the London-born star's latest offering shifted over 9million copies throughout the year. Storming into the Billboard 200 with week one sales of 3.4million - a record in the Nielson era of the chart - the album remained in the top slot for 10 weeks. Likewise the album's debut single, Hello, also clocked up the exact same number of weeks on the Hot 100 chart. This is the third time Adele has been awarded the title of Top Artist, having previously bagged the honour in 2012 and 2013. In September it was reported that she is preparing to take a 10 year hiatus from touring so that she can spend time with her only child. According to The Sun, the Rolling In The Deep singer has made the decision in light of the fact her son with Konecki will start school next year and will be unable to join her on the road - but she is said to be considering a Las Vegas residency. A source told the newspaper: 'Angelo is the number one priority for Adele. He is the most important thing in her life.
