The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi said the initiative of the Ministry of Culture and Information to establish the Royal Complex for Arts came in order to promote culture and arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, pay attention to the requirements of Saudi generations of intellectuals and artists and create institutions that are able to care for them where they can display their arts and document them whether modern arts or types of folklore of various regions of the Kingdom. The Minister explained in response to reporters' questions during a press conference held here yesterday to complete the presentation of national transformation program initiatives, that the idea of the complex is adopted in many countries, and one of its main objectives is to preserve and promote the national culture, provide the young generations with an image on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, its history, unity and the main elements that united this entity since it was founded by late King Abdulaziz Al Saud until the era of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and transfer the culture of the Kingdom to the outside world. Minister Dr. Altoraifi cited in that context the models of Fine Arts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia which began more than 40 years ago, noting that some Saudi artists started displaying their artistic works in international museums and exhibitions, while we do not have so far yet an artistic complex inside the Kingdom to exhibit these arts. The Minister said, "On artistic and theatrical levels, there are in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a number of Saudi actors in the framework of the comedy and drama and they have become today television faces in the Arab world, but these competencies and capabilities, especially the young capabilities do not find platforms that enable them to take care of their talents and support them, so it is one of the elements of the Royal Complex for the Arts is to create a non-profit institution to be able to finance the complex for the coming years." The Minister added, "The complex will have a Board of Trustees and a Board of Directors, noting that we are working in the Ministry of Culture and Information on these things, specifically the start began shortly before, and there was a royal decree concerning the establishment of the Commission for Culture". He added, "A special committee of male and female intellectuals was prepared for this Commission to put a conception of the new commission, and then a national workshop will be held in the Kingdom comprising a large number of intellectuals in the Kingdom to determine what is required from that commission and similar institutions.
