Published in Alriyadh on 08 - 06 - 2016

The Saudi-Sudanese Follow-up and Political Consultation Committee held on Tuesday its first meeting at the Conference Palace in Jeddah under the chairmanship of Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir and Sudanese Foreign Minister Professor Ibrahim Ahmed Ghandour.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency after the meeting, Al-Jubeir explained that they discussed the distinguished relations between the two countries and ways of strengthening and intensifying them in all fields.
Al-Jubeir said that he expressed to Sudan's foreign minister the thanks and appreciation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Sudan's supporting positions for the Kingdom, whether with regard to the Operation Determination Storm, Operation Renewal of Hope and the Islamic Military Alliance to counter terrorism and extremism, as well as Sudan's firm support for the kingdom's stances in the international organizations and bodies.
The minister stated that they discussed how to strengthen and intensify bilateral trade and investment between the two countries as well as the challenges faced by the region, whether in Syria, Iraq, Yemen, the situation in Libya, the Iranian intervention in the affairs of the region and how to deal with these challenges.
He stressed that the two countries have fully identical views expressing his hope to work together to push forward the relations between the two countries to a better level.
Al-Jubeir reported that the United Nations had deleted coalition countries to support the legality in Yemen from the list of the United Nations Secretary General on Children and military conflicts, due to inaccurate information in this report. He reiterated that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is very keen that any UN report to be issued must be based on facts and accurate statistics.
He explained that after reviewing the situation and the Kingdom's protest, the coalition of countries to support the legitimacy in Yemen was deleted from this list. He said that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the coalition countries are keen on security and stability in Yemen, and on protection of civilians including children, stressing that there is accuracy in military operations and there is a constant review to avoid any injury to civilians. He pointed out that the kingdom and the coalition countries are the biggest financers of human and relief aid to the Yemeni people, saying that they support the peace process in Yemen in order to reach a solution based on the Gulf initiative, outputs of national dialogue conference and Security Council resolution 2216.
With regard to Yemeni talks in Kuwait, Al-Jubeir confirmed that these talks are continuing and the kingdom hopes that the Yemeni parties can reach an agreement based on the Gulf Peace Initiatives, outputs of the national dialogue conference and UN Security Council resolution 2216.
For his part, the Sudanese Foreign Minister expressed his happiness for visiting the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and meeting with his counterpart Al-Jubeir, explaining that they discussed a number of issues of common the interest of the two countries.
Sudan's foreign minister confirmed that Sudan will continue to be supportive for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States and the Arab region and thanked the kingdom for the warm hospitality.
