Prince Dr. Turki bin Saud bin Mohammed, President of King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, met the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of the Kingdom of Sweden, Helene Hellmark Knutsson and the accompanying delegation. The Prince welcomed at the beginning of the meeting the Swedish Minister and her accompanying delegation, reviewing the activities being carried out by the Kingdom in the fields of science, technology and innovation, which has resulted in the Kingdom's ranking of 35 in the world and the first one in Arab and Muslim worlds in the quality of scientific research according to the assessment of international bodies. Prince Dr. Turki said, "King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology is seeking at this stage to focus on a number of national concern, such as solar energy, uses of clean energy, and manufacturing of advanced materials and their development, in addition to the fields of telecommunications and information technology, medical and pharmaceutical industries, and the use all of these areas in supporting the national economy through the localization of technology and its development and increasing the added value. For her part, the Swedish Minister confirmed historical, deep and good relations binding the two countries, and continuing seeking for extending further bridges of cooperation in the areas of health, and scientific research in particular, stressing that this visit which is her first one will be followed by multiple visits for further discussions and reviewing various aspects of cooperation in the fields of energy, sustainability, nanotechnology, electronics, transportation, and industries, with emphasis on the health field.
